Dear Norwood Families,

This letter is to inform families of Norwood School District 63, that it is the intent of the Board of Education to adopt an e-learning plan beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. If adopted this plan would be three years, with the option to renew.

On July 1, 2019, a new law reinstates the requirement that a school day consist of a minimum of five hours of instructional time, a provision that previously sunset in 2017. Public Act 101-0012 also allows school districts statewide to utilize e-learning days in lieu of emergency days and maintains flexibility for students to engage in career-connected learning outside of the classroom.

There will be a board hearing on August 15, 2022 at 6:55 p.m. before the regularly scheduled board meeting at Norwood Elementary School, 6521 W. Farmington Rd. Peoria, IL 61604. This would be the opportunity for the public to make comments regarding the plan.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Mr. Jake Flowers, Superintendent
